Our guests are often fascinated by the velvety texture of the maple tables, crafted by Tischlerei Mohr in Andelsbuch, with over fifty made specifically for Fuchsegg. The corners and edges are softly rounded and polished for a pleasant feel. Anton Mohr, an experienced specialist in surface treatment, reveals his secret: soaping the tabletops is a labor- and time-intensive process.
In six steps, the wood is wetted, dried, and sanded. The grit used in sanding becomes progressively finer, finishing at 600 grit. To sand the wood effectively, it must dry well between each step. In the final stages, plant-based soap is added to the water.
The Fuchsegg team cares for the tables daily with plenty of water and a touch of plant soap, ensuring they become increasingly resilient and beautiful over time.
