The Kanisfluh stands powerfully in the Bregenzerwald. We have chosen the limestone from this mountain for our favorite wall. Alchemist Gerold Ulrich burns the rock using ancient craftsmanship. Pure nature, without additives, just like in the past. David Lededsky—trained by Master Gerold Ulrich—then created the smooth limestone finish of our black mystical favorite wall through several steps. Those who know the Kanisfluh mountain understand our passion. It’s a rewarding hiking destination for your next mountain summer vacation in the Fuchsegg style. Lime burner Gerold Ulrich masters this craft, which has been used since ancient times. Not much has changed in the production process. The limestone is burned at 900 degrees in a wood-fired oven. It takes almost a hundred hours before it can be further processed. The limestone is then mixed with water and turns into powder. This lime creates a particularly good indoor climate. When soaped, it becomes water-resistant. With its high pH value, this smooth lime is germ-free and mold-resistant. The black color is achieved in the final step, where it is soaped with black olive paste.
It’s fascinating to stroke the wall with your hands. In our lounge at the Gasthaus, it is a wonderful complement to the rough-sawn white fir walls. By the way, those who treat themselves to a massage can enjoy the SPA-Room our white lime finish wall. It was treated with soap from Marseille in the final step.
