Experience Bregenzerwald

Our way of interacting with each other and the world around us—our approach—is the inspiration for the Bregenzerwald village walks. Easily accessible paths ranging from one and a half to four hours lead through various villages. At waist-high columns, you will find drawings of buildings or objects accompanied by brief questions. The answers can be discovered through conversations with locals or in brochures. They provide insights into regional architecture, craftsmanship, and the culture of life in Bregenzerwald. These village walks are designed to cultivate awareness and understanding of the world.

Festival FAQ Bregenzerwald

The FAQ Bregenzerwald takes place every year. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Vorarlberg's late summer mountains. Who are we? Forest. World. Wonder.

This community forum, with its festival character and culinary focus, is dedicated to the potentials. Lectures, discussion panels, readings, and concerts at unusual locations and breathtaking spots, thematic village walks, workshops, and extraordinary experiences make it something truly special.

Werkraum Bregenzerwald

From kindergarten to residential houses, from bus stops to hotels: In Bregenzerwald, construction is surprisingly different—using a lot of wood and in a simple, modern architectural style. The Werkraumhaus, designed by the renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor in close cooperation with the craftsmen of the valley, builds on this concept. With changing exhibitions and innovative design competitions such as 'Craft + Form,' it serves as a showcase for the craftsmanship of the Bregenzerwald.

Käsestraße

Dedicated to the Bregenzerwald cheese culture with 'Laib und Seele' – the culinary journeys along the Cheese Road range from mild to wild.

Frauenmuseum

The first and only women’s museum in Austria is located in Hittisau. It is also the only women’s museum in the rural area worldwide. Housed in an architecturally ambitious, award-winning building, it aims to make visible and document the cultural contributions of women and women’s history. The museum, known far beyond the borders, features two exhibitions per year in the fields of social and cultural history, art, architecture, and history.

Bregenzer Festspiele

The world-famous annual performance on the lake in the cultural capital of Bregenz.

This year, Carl Maria Weber's DER FREISCHÜTZ, directed by Philipp Stölzl, celebrated its premiere on the magnificent lake stage. On 28 evenings, the Freischütz village was brought to life, and Weber's moving music was performed. Soon, the first images of the new stage design in Bregenz will be available for viewing. We are already looking forward to next year!

Angelika Kauffmann Museum + Franz Michael Felder Museum

Several museums tell exciting biographies from different perspectives—such as those of Angelika Kauffmann and Franz Michael Felder.

Schubertiade Schwarzenberg

"When you step out of the car in the village square of Schwarzenberg, by the fountain and the shingled houses of Bregenzerwald, you know you are home—at the Schubertiade. Every year, the vast, mountain-surrounded valley, the cheese, the village life in its natural course, concert intermissions filled with the sounds of cowbells and chirping crickets, evening discussions under the chestnut tree, down-to-earth culinary delights, and high musical culture in the spirit of Franz Schubert create an irresistible atmosphere for both the audience and the artists."
