New Exhibition: Between Worlds
Born 1915–1935: Women share their stories
A Photo and Audio Project by Nurith Wagner-Strauss
What makes a life “rich”? Twenty-three women share their life stories. Born between 1915 and 1935, they were young girls or children during the Second World War. They come from various social backgrounds, some from urban settings, others from rural ones. Some remain physically and mentally active, while others are frail or live with dementia.
Photographer Nurith Wagner-Strauss captures what remains present of a personality in the twilight of life through her large-format images. She explores where and how the boundaries of reality, time, the here and now, and the long past begin to blur. These women are an essential part of Austria’s history. History is much more than a sequence of grand deeds, prominent men, or major battles. Through this exhibition, FMH seeks to uncover hidden aspects of our shared past.
